There are different theories regarding the tradition of celebration valentines’ day. In 3rd century, Rome was under the rule of Emperor Claudius 2nd .During a war he found it difficult to get youth to army. He found that either family, wives or lovers, bonds youth. Single youth performed better in war then others. Therefore, he banned marriages for youth, so that they join army. Saint Valentine a Christian priest found this ban as gross injustice and he defied the law. He organized secret marriages for youth. Soon they found out his defiance of law. Eventually he was executed. Many historians believe Valentines Day celebrated in the memory of martyrdom of Saint Valentine. As per some historians, Saint Valentine was in love with the daughter of jailor, who used to visit during his time in jail. Before his execution, he sent a letter to that girl with a signature ‘From your valentine’. This expression is still widely in use during Valentines Day.

Some believe birds and bees especially in Europe mates during February 14.taking cue out of it people also celebrating Valentines Day. In addition, some historians feels there is relation between Romans feast of Lupercalia and origin of Valentines Day. Lupercalia is a fertility celebration for honoring Juno who is the Roman gods’ as well as goddesses’ queen. Marriages are organized on February 14th the day before the feast. Women writes billets which is nothing but love letters and leaves them in urn .Men draws the notes and pursue the women whose billet was drawn. This is more of lottery for selecting valentines and it continued until 18th century.

In modern times, there is a legend that Duke of Orleans started the tradition of sending the Valentines Day messages. He was in prison located in the London Tower in 1415 A.D. and he wrote a letter to his wife who was French from the prison.

Other than this, also try to understand what flirting is all about. You cannot flirt all the time, non-stop, that will make you a sense less blabberer, to avoid the thing, also make sense at times.

There will be some kind of liking for some one closer, even without knowing what those emotions are. It is a kind of feel good factor, which sparkle the hearts.

During teenage the beautiful feelings regarding love blooms inside the heart. A well orchestrated golden age of dreams, in which life moves through celluloid of imagination. This is the age of infatuation. The passion is so high, that the feelings look sincere and intense. However, it takes maturity to realise that many of those feelings were mere infatuation. Many of us can laugh at the beautiful acts that we have committed during our teenage, may be we can term it as crazy.

Cupid is an infant angel with wings having have bow and arrow in hands. There is a myth that cupid is the son of Venus the goddess of love. One falls in love the first person seen by him or her if being hit by cupid’s arrow. But the arrows are invisible and one can feel the effect of the arrow only after falling in love with somebody.

Heart and arrow is another symbol extensively used during Valentine’s Day. Heart represents both love and vulnerability .Heart and arrow symbolizes the merging of two loving souls. There is risk of being rejected when u propose somebody and it can hurt one’s feelings. Piercing of arrow symbolizes the death of love and vulnerability.

Birds chooses life long mate on February 14th .and Dove was chosen as bird as it was sacred to Venus the goddess of love. Love birds represent purity. Their bcooing sounds represents love sounds as lovers do cooing when they talk like babies with sugary words. Over the years love birds were changed from doves to humming birds to parrots and some other birds.

In Rome during Lupercalia festival there was a custom of exchanging love notes. But modern day valentine’s card tradition was started by duke of Orleans in England during 15th century AD. He sent love poems to his wife from the prison in London Tower. Valentine verses are very romantic and it comes right from the heart .Now a days Valentine’s card with beautiful pictures and romantic verses as well affectionate verses are exchanged.

Love Knots are the messages woven in carpets by Muslim women to pledge their love to young men as there was restrictions for them in public. Chocolate is a Valentine symbol .When a person falls in love his or her brain produces a chemical called phenylaline which causes bursting higher emotions. Chocolates contain the same chemical phenylaline and it acts as love booster. By giving chocolate to the loved ones, one tries to stir up the same emotions he or she has for them in their minds.

Roses symbolize romance and love. Each coloured rose stands for some emotions. So one presents it to others on the basis of the emotions. All these symbols are special on this auspicious occasion.
